Imposter Scams

When the caller ID lies.

Scammers use VoIP technology to spoof their caller ID, making it look like they are calling from your bank, the local police department, or a government agency.

The Verification Protocol

If you receive a call about a compromised account, an arrest warrant, or a suspended Social Security number, hang up. Look up the official number of the organization independently (on the back of your debit card, or their official .gov website) and call them yourself.
