Why Domain Age Matters
Scammers constantly set up new websites because their old ones get reported and shut down. If a website claims to be a "leading investment firm with 10 years of experience," but the domain was registered 3 weeks ago, you are looking at a scam.
- Under 6 months: Extreme caution. The vast majority of fake shopping and crypto scam sites fall into this category.
- 6 months to 1 year: Proceed with caution.
- Over 1 year: Safer, but not a guarantee. Some scammers buy expired domains to bypass this check.
