Online Shopping Scams

Spotting fake storefronts built to harvest credit cards.

You see an ad on social media for a popular product at an unbelievable 80% discount. You click through to a slick, professional-looking website and make a purchase.

You either receive a cheap knockoff, nothing at all, or your credit card information is stolen and used for fraudulent purchases.

Red Flags

  • Domain names that look slightly off (e.g., nike-outlet-clearance24.com)
  • Prices that are drastically lower than established retailers.
  • Lack of physical address or legitimate contact information on the site.

Use our Domain Age Checker tool. Fake shopping sites are often registered only weeks before the ad campaign begins.
